“Hajj” means literally “to set out for a place”. For a Muslim, that place is the Holy City of Makkah.
Al Masjid al Haram (Grand Mosque)
A sophisticated, clean, holly and loving place for the Muslims of the world is Saudi Arabia (Makka & Madina). The safety and comfort of the Hajjis has become a major concern for the Saudi authorities, they spent much more budget for the Hajjies security. Heat-resistant marble is used for the newly laid floor tiles, and to further ensure the comfort of worshipers the whole structure is cooled by one of the world’s largest air-conditioning units. To facilitate the movement of worshipers to the newly developed roof area of the Holy Mosque during the busiest seasons, in the northern and southern sides of the building, alongside a number of fixed stairways, there are many additional escalators have been incorporated. Moreover, in order to reduce the build-up of traffic around the Holy Mosque, in the vicinity of Alsouk Alsagir, a development project by saudi government has involved to construct a new tunnel for vehicles. To ensure the safety of the worshipers, pedestrian routes and tunnels have also been carefully planned and laid out by Government.
